The Tazzetti Museum in Usseglio celebrates its 20th anniversary with the exhibition ‘Memory and Reception', dedicated to one of the most topical issues: migration. Set up in the summer in Usseglio and Lemie, it is now in Turin expanded in the number of photographs on display, with the intention of spreading the message to a wider audience. It begins in Italy with black and white photos dating back to the end of the 19th century, from departures from Italian ports to overseas arrivals such as Ellis Island in New York, alongside those illustrating the stories of those who left the Lanzo Valleys to seek better fortune abroad. It then continues with photos of Italians moving from the south to the north of Italy and Europe, to arrive at the shots that tell the complexity and gravity of the migrations taking place today.
