Ivan Ravalli, author of the thesis Il cammino verso la democrazia nelle Valli di Lanzo 1943-1946, presents the result of his research, the first programmatic work on the free zone of the Lanzo Valleys, on the local CLN and the popular juntas. A research that analyses the wartime period from a point of view other than the military one known to most. The focus is on civil administration, justice, and the effort made by the CLN to re-educate to democracy a people that had lost it for too long. A journey that did not end on 25 April 1945, but continued until the first free democratic municipal elections between March and September 1946.
