Giovanna D'Arco

02-05-2025 / 11-05-2025

Joan of Arc had a very short but extraordinary life: she took up arms, commanded an army, won battles, was captured, tried for heresy and burned alive. All this between the ages of 17 and 19. Yet today she is still used as a symbol both by right-wing and conservative positions and by LGBTQ+ movements. But who is Joan? A woman who was not afraid to rebel against the norms of her time, finding in fighting the way to change her world. A woman who, by her very way of being, was accused of much sin and was therefore punished. A mystic, a warrior, who decided to get involved, take a stand and become a political figure.   With Joan of Arc II. OPERO, Paolo Costantini continues his research into the radicality of revolutionary female figures, which he began with Saint Catherine of Siena in I have much sin: I. TALK.
